I had this problem once. I was wiring in some EL guage overlays and was gonna use the cigerette lighter to power them. turns out i wired it wrong and it kept blowing the fuses. Check your cigerette lighter fuse (its on the same circuit as the headlights/tail lights)

thnx but that wasnt it... it ended up being the tail light fuse that was blown but it also lighted up the gauges as well which i find quite odd. There still is my centre console (displacement heat/air knob, cold air/heat knob...etc.) are still out.... i dunno why though im still trying to figure that one out. i figure its the ground?

if its ONLY your climate control backlighting that isnt working, well that is a self contained unit, does the climate controls actually work, your just not getting lighting? if it dosent work at all check your connections and your fuses/relays. If all of that is good, you might have a bad unit.
