Has anyone or your friend try the Metra 70-7003 for installing an aftermarket head unit into your infinity system?

http://www.amazon.com/METRA-70-7003-MITSUB...S/dp/B0002ZGEO4

I already bought this harness but haven't purchased a new head unit yet so I was curious if anyone can confirm that it does actually work.

And by the way, I have a 2000 Mits Eclipse with Infinity Stereo System.

I used The 70-7003 for My 03 Montero It work perfectly. That's all you need.

I would discourage the use of the stock Inifinity amplifier, and for one simple reason. It is extremely wimpy. I had one in my 03 Eclipse GTS, and could never get enough power out of it. My local stereo shop gave a printout of wire colors off the amp under the passenger seat, and I just clipped them and spliced in wires going back to my trunk where I put a 50Wx4 RMS @ 4ohm amplifier. First thing that happened when I cranked it up, was those cheesy little horn tweets in the doors popped. I carved the grills out of those and glued in some 3/4" dome tweets and it sounds fantastic (aftermarket HU as well).

Bottom line, if you want to upgrade your sound system, you will need more power going to your speakers. Otherwise, a new head unit will be mostly cosmetic.
