Hi my name is Erwin Johnn. I own a Delica. If I compare it to my other diesel car it has a high diesel comsumption. I have heared from friends that they have been on the net and there is a repair kit that wil reduce the diesel comsumtion of the delica.
I want to know if it is true. :grouphug:

Hi, I also have just purchased a Delica, 1995. I find that it has a high fuel consumption. Did you ever find out a way to reduce it. Would like to know.

[COLOR=blue]Hi Guys,
I have a 98 series 2 Turbo Diesel and when I first bought the car, I thought it seemed a bit thirsty but have since found out a few things:
These cars weigh around 2100kg, so taking off gently from a standing start by keeping the revs at 2-2500 rpm will help.
When on the highway, keeping the rpm at or below 2500 should see fuel consumption reduce.
Servicing is extremely important. Having a clean air filter, a good set of glow plugs, clean oil and fuel filters (and injectors) will also help.

Hope this helps. :thumbsup:

Cheers,

Damo and Leanne.

yeah the starwagon is already heavy at 1600kgs, 2100kgs that would be like me driving around with at least four passengers all the time to give it some perspective

Hi Erwin Johnn,

Welcome to the forum, as others already mentioned it's a matter of weight but also the absence of any streamline in the model,driving on the motorway with a strong headwind has a considerable infiuence on the diesel consumption.
I've never heard of any kits to lower the diesel consumption, control your right foot is the best way to lower it. :grin:
