Thanks to all of you for helping me get my radio working again - saved well over $100 thinking I needed a new radio.

97 Montero - serial number was easy to find: pull out the ashtray then remove the 2 screws on the plate that's the "roof" of the ashtray area. Put a mirror in there and you'll find the serial number.

Called the 800 number and when she asked for the "part number" I said No way I can get the radio out...I'm a woman (hee hee - yes I am and might as well use it, lol). She was able to look it up with the VIN# and the serial number.

The only diff in inputting the 4-digit code is that I had to hit each preset an extra time....when I hit it once, zero came up....twice , one came up, etc. But that should be very obvious to everyone.

I had to hit the Tape and then the CD button. I hit Tape first (after entering the code) and nothing happened so I hit CD and, yeehaw, the radio worked!!!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.....

now to post how to fix the antenna, lol.
