So.. im driving on the highway head to the beach.. ive got about 4?? km on my car n decide to into manual n take it up to the 6th gear slowly.. not going above 5,000 rpm.. n i get into 6th somewhere around 4,000 rpm.. the car starts making a noise at first i thought it was my music.. so i turn it off.. then i thought it was the road.. but no it wasn't then i thought i was hearing things.. n my girlfriend thinks it was coming for the sunroof.. i was freaked out...

cause earlier my mom had drivin my car in manual about a km.. by accident.. she didnt knw.. she said that she only drove up to 55km/hr shes a slow driver.. so i drove it in first to see how high the rpm went which was around 5.. btw i havent been drivin my car like i stole it.. i drive mostly in auto.. n never around 4,000rpm usually below or around 2,000 rpm.. @ varying speeds..

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WTH THIS NOISE IS!!!!

ive never heard it b4 but then again ive never pushed my car well i wouldnt consider this pushing it since i didnt even go near 6,000 rpm..

could it be the wind noise that your hearing, cause at 6th gear and 4000 rpm the car's going pretty fast.

ps. This actually happened to my lancer too. My gf didn't know she was in manual mode and drove a few blocks. I'll listen for the same noise your talking about and report back...

I didn't get a chance to bring the car to 4000rpm in 6th as this will require a lot of open road to reach that speed, but I got to 150k/hr and did not here any strange noise.

sunny_m : when you drove the car in 1st and traveling 55k/hr. Was this speed held (sustained) to give a more acurate rpm reading or was the car launched causing rpm dial lag?
