Sorry if these are really dumb questions, I don't know very much about car audio. I just installed my alpine deck in to my 95 eclipse, and for some odd reason every time I turn on my lights the music stops playing. I have been told it is the ground wire, and I am having trouble finding a new spot to ground it to.

One other problem I am having is with my subs/amp. I had my subs working fine for about two weeks, then all of the sudden they stopped working. I checked the fuses on the amp and they were blown. Now everytime I install new fuses they pop once I turn on the car. What are some probablities for this to occur?

Thanks in advance!

Hmm I have my power wire connected to a thick dark blue wire.. did I connect it to the wrong one? I see an orange wire with a fuse in the wire but it is not connected to anything. Sorry if these are really dumb questions.

I meant for the subs. And the ground wire should be connected to a piece of metal with another piece of metal. IE a bolt with a washer. Orange wire is a dimmer.

The stereo and the amp are both grounded with metal to metal. Is the dimmer wire absolutely necessary? I do not see a wire to connect it to on my deck and when i ran a voltmeter to it, it read no voltage. Thanks

sounds like you are using the parking light(dimmer) wire as ground for the radio. Disconnect the radios ground wire and connect it a screw or bolt that is secured into metal. It is always safer practice to use the recommended aftermarket wiring harness to avoid such problems. Its worth the $10 investment. As far as the amp and subs, well it could be a number of problems. Most common is when the ground from the radio is connected to a dimmer wire, this can cause a spike of 12 volts to go through all grounds of the radio. Which means the outside of the RCA connector(the shield) will send 12 volts to the amp every time you turn on your lights. Repeated times can cause a short in the amp, which can result in fuses blowing every time.

Well good luck with your situation.
