Hello All,

My L200 went for its 70 000km service and about a week afterwards, the v belts snapped, causing water pump, radiator failure. This eventually caused the head to crack etc.

In my service schedule it says that the v belts are supposed to be checked during the 70 000km and I feel that I shouldnt have to bear the expense of this negligence myself.

Does anyone agree with this and do I have a case here?

Thanks,

Greg

If the belts were obviously damaged then the service department should bear the cost of repair as they were obviously not checked. I had a similar case where my car was serviced and the front brake pads supposedly checked yet a week later they were down to metal. In this cae the garage admitted liability and replaced the pads free of charge. The service sheet also showed that the air con was working OK but hasnt actually worked for months. A lot depends on how you approach them.
