My 1993 Express 4wd has, in addition to the normal oil pressure warning light, a similar looking one but with a wavy line under the oil can as if indicating a liquid. What's that warning light for?
Thanks.

my express has the same one in the far right corner

I'll check the user manual later tonight and see what it says.

owners manual confirming -

Engine Oil Level Warning Lamp - amber
This lamp illuminates when the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position, and goes off after the engine has started. If it lights up while the engine is running, the oil level is too low.
If the warning lamp lights while the engine is running, stop the engine and add engine oil to the specified level.

Thanks a lot Steve.
Seems odd though, assuming the other oil light senses whether oil is getting picked up, which would make this one of very limited additional value. Even if it comes on at the low oil level on the dipstick all it would do is save you having to check your oil level (my old 1994 L300, whose light indicated oil pickup, would pickup below the level of the dipstick i.e say another inch below the low mark).
I wish Mitsubishi had given us a radiator water level warning light instead. Recently I had a leak in a water hose (that did not look or feel perished, it happened at a clamp), I turned the engine off when I first heard the engine pinging - too late, new engine needed. The only way to avoid it would be to look at the temperature gauge every minute, which is hardly reasonable, and may not save you anyhow if the water drained while the engine was off.
Does anyone know where to buy a sensor for the water level, or perhaps another temperature gauge with a light or buzzer?

Mitsubishi introduced the oil-level warning light because it's not very easy to check the oil-level in the L300.
Lot's of L300's were commercial vans ( at least they were in Holland ) so most drivers didn't bother about the oil too much.....

Does anyone know at what level on the dipstick the warning light comes on?
