Hi my name is Shane and I'm the proud owner of an 05 Evo VIII MR. (Sorry bout the lame intro, but now you know my name and ride at least.)

So, I let a good friend drive my Evo today. We were getting on the highway and he was getting on it (Told him to cause he was driving like a grandma and I knew he knows how to handle a stick cause he owns an 03 WRX (Sad story right?!)) anyway, he was getting on it and while he was headed to 5th from 4th he hit what I'm guessing was 3rd but feeling the jerk it really could have been first... He cluthed it back in pretty quick and it only hit about 8k rpm (Only right...). Although a little pissed about the over-rev, I was calm because it was still operating fine and dandy. Until we got off and at the first light we hit when he had to come back to 1st from 6th, it was hella hard to get into gear. So I took back over driving and listening. No unusual sounds or anything, but now every time I have to gear into 1st with the last engaged gear being 6th, I have to put some good force into it. If I put it in say 5th or 3rd on the way out of 6th then hit 1st it's fine and normal. Also now if I'm getting on it out of 1st and 2nd then deciding I should cool it so go 2nd to 5th I get a mini grind that sounds typical of a worn syncro, but the car only has 23k miles on it so I'm throwing that out...

Any ideas guys?! My wishful thinking wants me to believe it's somehow a shifting fork maybe and not a complete F*** up somewhere between input and output shaft (like say a partially rotated/twisted output shaft somewhere before 6th helix) . I'm just trying to get some ideas here so I know what to expect if I take it in. Side note, the 3yr bumper-bumper warranty is still on as is the 5yr powertrain of course, any chance it'll fall into one of those?!?!

Feelin pretty sh**ty about the whole ordeal so I'm hoping to hear good things from you guys!!! (Please!!??)
