So I just got a 2000 Eclipse GT, and I know that Mitsubishi is well known for their good stock speakers, but I need a lil bump-bump. I had 2 10s (Bazooka) in my little Honda Civic Coupe, but I don not think they will provide adequate boom in the bigger Eclipse. I was thinking about maybe one 12 MTX sub, but I just wanted to know what everyone else was using, and what they thought was the best. On a side note, I got it and the deck is a Dual...hahahaha.... it's okay though, I can take care of that one. Dual kinda SUX.

Thanx y'all!!

I wouldn't go with mtx, they are a good sub, but you need to spend a bit to get the better stuff.

Look on sonicelectronix.com, they have good prices.

I would say go with the mtx if you get a higher line, such as the 7500. If not, i'd say go with pioneer premier, a higher line audiobahn, or an infinity of any variety. If you are going to want bigger sound, I would go with a ported box, dont do bandpass though, sound quality = sux. For your amp I would say audiobahn, pioneer, or rockford. Rockford is higher price though, so I dunno if you are going to be into that one.

depends how much money you want to spend (Alpine all the way up to kicker and jl audio) and just to note that if you want to add the cd player im pretty sure you have to bypass that pesky amp.

I've been running a Resonant Engineering RE-SE12 (600 watts RMS with 4 ohm DVCs)sub with an Audiobahn Intake 8000T (800 watt RMS @ 2 ohms) for a while now, and have been very happy with its performance. After a few different builds in other cars using ported and bandpass enclosures, i've been most impressed with the crisp clean quality of sound acheived from using a well sealed enclosure. Ideal for this car in my opinion would bee right on 1000 watts RMS with a hardy 15" 800+ watts RMS sub (if you can afford a JL sub with power handling over 500 watts RMS, by all means, do it).

BTW, I've been happy with the stock infinity door and rear quarter speakers, I have not changed them out. They are running on my Audiobahn Intake 6004 amp (50 watts RMS x 4 channels) along with a pair of 3/4" crossfire dome tweets mounted where the stock ones were.

I have been tweaking this system for months, and it still impresses me with the quality of sound it puts out. With some passive crossovers and rewiring my tweets to my deck, and adjusting some gain levels, i can squeeze out some even better sound, but haven't had the time and resources lately. Keep us updated on the system build, its always fun to see what everyone's up to. Any roadblocks, let me know, I'll see what i can do for you joshuadfoster@yahoo.com

yo, Rancho,
Looks like the vents on your enclosure are facing straight up. If you haven't already, try facing them straight towards the back of the car if it will fit. 4/5 times, i've found this to deliver more bass to the front of the car.

Ebay can get you good deals, and you can also score big piles of dog doo....just watch for brand names, and RMS power handling/output (max power is a superficial thing to use as a comparison for buying equipment)

yeah, if the ports face the trunk or the seats, you will get much better sound because there is more solid material to bounce the sound back on.

Both of my amps came from ebay. You most likely wont get warranty on ebay stuff unless specified, but the cut in price can be worth it. My sub amp, 800watt RMS was around $180 and the 4ch was like $130......sub came from a local shop, about $280 (which was recently on sale for a 100 bucks, DAMMIT!) watch for local sales too, you can get some killer deals, my buddy got a 15" sub made by RE that handles around 4k watts for about $400.
