I've had my 2006 Eclipse GS for well over a year. Since I've had it, I hear a sound that seems to be coming from the dash that I can best describe as a rapid chirping/clicking sound. This sound can be heard ONLY when I am driving between approximately 78 and 82 miles per hour. If I go faster than 82, the sound goes away. If I go less than 78, the sound goes away. The sound usually gets more prominent when pressing on the accelerator while I am within this speed range.

Does anyone else experience this? I'm thinking it may be normal... maybe some mode that the car goes into when going over 80? This is kind of difficult to take to the dealer and tell them they need to drive my car exceeding the speed limit to experience the sound.

Any help or insight would be appreciated. :)

Hi,
Yes I experience this as well, except I live in Canada so it is usually around 120km mark. I took it into the dealership before and they couldn't hear the noise, of course it wasn't doing it when i took them for a drive, but I haven't wasted any more money to have them come for a drive. If anybody could help us out, that would be great!

I have the same issue. However if you pay real good attention you will notice its at 3500 rpm. Nothing below or above that.

My local dealer has noticed it and so has the regional service mgr. They however have no clue what it is or how to fix it.
