That is for linking an aftermarket head unit into the factory amp, which may be under the passenger seat (this is where it is located in the 03 eclipse with infinity). If you like big sound, this amplifier will probably dissapoint you. An aftermarker head unit with a stock amplifier isnt going to do much for performance, but may look nicer and add functions. You will need a better amp if you want better sound. You can find a good 4ch for under $200 and will probably pop any stock tweeters if you have them. If they pop, you needed new ones anyhow. My 03 Eclipse GTS had the stock infinity system with horn tweets in the doors. They didnt stand up 2 minutes with my Audiobahn intake 6004t, before they popped and ceased to work. I upgraded to some crossfires that i had used in a previous car, and they sound great. I've been runing the stock door speakers for a while, and other than the tweets, they hold up great, and put out awesome sound.
Factory amps are for factory systems, and if you are looking to upgrade, you will want an upgraded amp, or you wont get much (if any) more sound out of it than you are now.
