synthetic supposedly holds up better to extreme conditions but if you're the type to do frequent oil changes (like me) sticking to mineral is fine because you ll be changing it before the oil/additives have been exhausted and it will save you money. Dont skimp on the oil filter!

I have a car that I drift and it is Always at redline and bouncing off limiter (three years so far with this motor) and I use mineral oil BUT I always change the oil, almost obsessively because of the torture I put the motor through.

I also use mineral in my turbo Civic and when I was using synthetic, I spun the bearings twice, not saying it was because of synthetic but it hasnt happened since I switched and its running more power. Most likely due to the fact that I change the oil more often now with mineral than when I ran synthetic.

If you plan on leaving oil in the car for more than 3000 miles, Id go with synthetic. I myself do oil changes on my regular cars at 2500 and before every event on my race cars.
This is all from my experience and opinions on oil will differ with everyone, so just make a decision based on everyones opinion as a whole

absolutly not worth it for a base lancer. you will never get to the operating temps to make the added cost worthwhile, unless you live in a very cold area during the winter.
