Never heard of this happening!Does the fto require you push a button at the side of the barrel befroe pulling the key out like some other mitsubishis?

Yeah the same thing happened to me today :puzzled:
My FTO GR doesn't have a button to push to get the key out, i've read through the FTO car owners manual and done every thing it suggested ... move the steering wheel back & forth, made sure the gear stick was in "Park" on the tiptronic gear box still nothing .. lucky for me its not parked out in the street
Any ideas on how to fix this?
UPDATE :D Thank God for google!!
Q. My ignition key is stuck in the ignition barrel in my automatic FTO!
A. There is a cable running from the gearlever to the ignition barrel which allows the key to be removed only in the 'Park' mode. It could be the case that the cable has jumped out of the guides or even that one of the guides has broken. You'll need to take off as much of the plastic covers as you can to see what you're doing.
Theres a whole list of answers at ...

Hiya

I had the same problem today. Thank you so much for posting this info!! :liebe011:

I took off all of the plastic covers, which was a bit of a mission, and found that the cable needed to be adjusted. To adjust it I had to undo the bolt holding the cable in place and move it towards the gear lever so the cable had a bit of slack in it. It took a bit of trial and error to get it right.

Thanks again!!!!!

Hi gemini-trace,
I'm glad the information helped you
:excl: Did you give the latch a little spray of WD40?
or some other lubricant that should stop it happening again

Hi Jay

Yup sprayed it with some greasy stuff.

It was such a relief to get home from work and be able to pull the key out without any problems.

Thanks again Jay!!
