I'm kinda torn between the two cars right now, because I found a used 2004 Lexus IS300 at a dealership near my house for about the same price as a fully loaded GTS would be, and it had about 48k miles on it

I don't really care about fuel economy or the added insurance, I'm just not sure which one will be better in the long run... at least in terms of enough power, fun to drive, and nice looks both inside and out

I just cant decide

Go with the brand spanking new lancer. Who knows how the previous lexus owner cared for their car. I love my lancer and 98% of the people on here will agree. Go take a long test drive in the GTS b4 u decide. Also do not get the CVT. 5 speed is much more fun.

IMHO the perks of the new 2008 Lancer GTS is undoubtedly can par with a luxury car at a lesser price, e.g. bluetooth connectivity with the audio system, navi with 30 gig hard drive which has 6 gig reserve for music files, premium 650-watt rockford fosgate sound system, sport-tuned, 18-inch alloy wheel, big disc brakes, and tire air pressure / AC climate control sensors.

Approaching your ride with a conventional key on hand is so obsolete nowadays, while the new Lancer has a FAST key system that enables you to get entry in your car quickly especially when it's raining and DARK! The FASt key system has an engine immobilizer as an added internal security for the car, thus preventing any method of forced-starting the engine.

You said that you don't care about fuel economy, then go for the MT. I am from nYc so i choose the CVT for economic reasons.

Definately the IS300. Is there anything more important than it being rear wheel drive. I love my Lancer but it's not like I didn't try to find an IS300 or a G35 in the same price range.

As an owner of a semi-luxury 07 Merc C280, I say pass on the luxury brands if you don't really need to show off the status.
Stay with the Lancer for an overall great bang for the buck and if you plan on keeping the car beyond 4 years and 60K miles the longer Mitsu warranty comes in more handy. Besides, you will look much more younger in a Lancer :57:

Toyota/Lexus will keep on working until the human race is long gone. also the IS you can do a lot of stuff to it and a very big after market for it.

Side note: if you have the money 2JZGTE swap (twin turbo power)
