I have a 2003 outlander. About 6 months after I bought new tires the car developed a vibration. I thought I needed to balance the tires again.

The strange thing is the vibaration is really felt when going over 60 mph. You can feel it slightly at 0-20 mph

Now a rubbing / Grinding sound has developed. It reminds me of when your brake pads are almost gone and you apply the brakes.

I pulled off the front drivers wheel (that's where I think its coming from) I checked to see if there was any play in the rotor (bad bearing?) and looked at the rubber boots (CVV Joints) they looked great, not even cracked.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, David

Just an update...

Turned out to be a bad tire BUT (here's the stick it to'em)

The garage also said I needed new front brakes, Ok it has been about 40000 miles.
Then he calls back and says he can not turn the rotors, too thin. OK new rotors too.

So a new tire, brakes with rotors, and balance = $625.00

When I pick up the car, he says I will need a new hub wheel bearing and inner tie rods in the near future. Estimate? $594.00

All that just to find why my Outlander vibrated. Also she's got 70000 miles on it so time for a timimg belt, add another $500 to $1000. Gotta love it!!!
