I have a 1993 space wagon 2.0 petrol. oil warning light came on 2 weeks ago, the level was good, but i topped it to full anyway. today the warning light came on for a few seconds then off, on and off again. the level is still good so there must be another answer. Where do i begin?

My car's oil light started in same way, when I replaced oil level sensor with a second hand identical sensor then it was sorted. Try to replace it i hope it will sort the light problem. Good Luck

Thanks for the reply, i will check and clean the original, familiarise myself with it to make it easier to find a new one (can be tough here in tenerife). Can you tell me where its located and what it looks like from the outside?

Oil level sensor is located on the oil sump, under the oil filter the sensor measure the oil level not pressure and warn the driver if the oil level reduce. The function of warning light is to inform driver any of the sensor does not work properly. About 50% of the time replacing oil level sensor sort the problem. Good luck
