hi, I have a problem, with my car! started her up drove perfectly until I went over 3000 rpm then the engine managment light came on & everything cut out, after a minute or so she restarted, but on or just after 3000 rpm she cut out again, to cut a long story short i took her to a mitsubishi dealership & two faults came up, 12 AFS & 92 ETU MOTOR, which translates to a new throttle body, expensive! so what I,m wondering is, is there a less expensive solution i,e a refurbished part, taking it off & trying to clean it along with the manifold etc. I am able to put her in neutral & rev up to the red line (I know) with no problem, she drives fine below about 3000 rpm, any ideas? I'd try a spray cleaner 1st mitsu shops always try'n make a little extra cash.
I can't see how a mechanical device would need replacement?
All it is is a butterfly right?
The sensors yes but the whole thing?
Mabey I'm missing something?

you are right, took off throttle body & it was pretty gummed up, cleaned it (took a while!) seemed to go better but the engine management light still comes on but only when putting the engine under load (up hill), will clean the injectors etc & take it from there, I checked the service records & see it has been cleaned before by a different mitsu' dealership, some are better than others it appears! cheers

Just to update on things, have not had time to clean the rest of the manifold etc yet , but, the problem with the engine management coming on & car stopping has disappeared, seems to be burning abit more petrol & the idles abit high at times but thats it, :57:
