Advice Please...

I am getting CEL codes on my 1998 Eclipse L4 engine. Engine all stock
execpt for DC sports 4-2-1 header which has been on the car for at least
two years.

Codes are
P0171 - Fuel System Lean
P0134 - Upstream O2 sensor Ckt no activity

The engine gets great MPG and this problem just started happening.
Alternator/battery voltage just fine when running.

When driving I have an intermittent problem...
As I'm driving the engine for no reason will cut out for a small fraction of
a second. Not sure why but it's almost like the ECM just cuts out completely.
The car looses power. The CEL which is on because of the codes flashes off
for just about 1/4 second then comes on again. Tach drops instantly about
500 RPM, then returns to normal.

Codes seem to indicate a bad O2 sensor, which is a good starting point.
O2 sensor is old so changing it is not a big issue.
I'll try a new fuel filter too, and clean the K&N air filter.

Any other suggestions? The intermittent nature makes me think the ECM
is flipping out. I'm going to clean all the contacts at the connector.
What more can I do?

if your millage has gone to Sh** then it is most likely the o2... if it's not reading(the o2 sensor) it will think that the engine is running lean ... (thus the lean code) and dumps more fuel into the system. could be choking the car out and causing all yer problems.  its gotta be broken sensor or sensor wire
