Up and close up on your face homie! Now that is gangster. Lol.

Ok, here is like an El review so enjoy.
I got the vehicle after i decided to want something different from everyother person. I needed something practical, comfortable, unique and with a triptronic gear box. As some of you would know,  i had a FTO (hello Piggy) It was fun and what not but i got tired of the whole "go fast" thing and was dying for comfort and relaxation drive. Well, the RvR seems to be the obvious solution.

After several research and what not, I got the car from Japan for a under £2500 - this including shipping, customs fee and all the necessary monies the goverment takes.
My impression of the car is the amount of space it have, the near stealthy silent GDI engine. If anybody care to look it up, the GDI engine is iirc about 32% more fuel efficient than convectional engines.

For a car its size, the handling is not bad but nothing like the FTO.  Conering is well managed and aint too much body roll - Probably due to clever suspension and the fact that it is not a fast car....Overall it manages to strike a right balance in terms of handling.

GDI aint mean it is a diesel engine!

More images and what i think to follow.

The car comes with a dark tinted windows - apart from the the driver and passenger sides - this is very good at cutting off glares from all those xenon and high beam car at night. It also provides privacy when needed. - E.g Doing a drive by or transporting immigrants! Lol. (jokes)

(IMG:http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/9302/20070805rvr0006rz4.th.jpg)

Due to the size of the wheels and the suspension, roads that are normaly giving the feeling of been bumpy in the fto, are more of a smooth rides in this one. It also have a fulltime 4x4 drive system - well, according to the spec. This means there is plenty of grip when needed but makes the car slow.

The boot space is very humoungous and the benefit of this van-like design of the car means i can have all sort of seat arrangement. I can turn the whole seats into a bed and i do mean a bed! See photos.

It have a single sliding door (apar from the two front ones). This makes coming in and out of the car an easy affair and If i must say, a very clever design. The sliding also incorporates a "gentel close and suck in action" - Basically, a mere push of the door with my habnd would lead to it been drawn in, sucked in and firmly closed. Very good if you have plenty off stuff on your hand when packing the shopping bags out of the car.

As mush as i love this car, it however do have minor downsides - The 1.8 engine makes the car a bit slow and while the triptronic gear box is very good, the lack of grunt makes it feels slugish. Bear in mind that i am coming from a 2.0 litre v6 engine. Overall, I love the car and am happy with it.
I dont know what more to say but i would answer any question thrown at me in regards to the car obviously.

I doubt an Estate car is this massive on the inside.

As with all Japanese car you get all the normal goodies -
A/c
ABS
Folding mirror
Several seating positions
Auto-sensing headlamps
Folding mirrors linked to the key fob.
Fuel efficient engine. - Iirc, the GDI engine is what the FSI and some other engines are based on.

So not bad for a 10year old car.

Wow!
Only ever seen up to a 1997 before!

Do they make the '98 in the Hyper-Gear model with the 2l Twin-cam Turbo engine?
They used the Evo IV; engine, g-box & 4wd running gear.

I am trying to buy one here in Melb.Aust & they are "import-only" from Japan,
& they go for $16-18000 over here, fully complied.

So your '98 for UK2500 pounds seems cheap,
as that would equate to about AU$6000-6500 i think.

But yours must be base model, if its not 2l Turbo,
or did they stop making them with that engine?

Any tips or advice pls email me at:
yelafella@yahoo.com.au
thanx
brad
