So I've been looking all over the internet for information about this car and that aux port. Someone mentioned pulling the back panel off the center console. I removed it and there were two wires. They looked familar. I know I've seen them before. Dang. When I pulled my Lancer apart it was the plugs for the accessory socket or the cigarette adaptor for those that have older Mitsu cars. Theres a round pop off panel in the center storage space. I'm going to order it. What would really make my day would be if the one in the trunk was pre wired. Any one know if it is?

OK so here's the deal. The plug is there already the acc plug and cover are not. I just bought them from a Mits place. Together they are roughly 50 bucks! You need the special cover for the socket because it holds the socket in place. Without it the socket will just fall back into the center console. Remove the back plastic plate and there will be a plastc L shaped thing attached to two wires running to the front of the car. This is the positive and negative wires for the acc socket.

REmove the blue tape holding the wire and plastic connector together or it won't reach.

I did go to the local auto store and they have aftermarkets. The L shaped connection for power to the acc is made for the mitsu socket. I'm just glad it's prewired.

However I'd rather it look natural so I broke down and paid the 50 bucks for the parts. Geez 50 bucks for something that looks 4 cents.

The dealer must not use your vin number because your car wasn't equipt with the socket in the first place.

ACC socket and ACC cover.

Socket seems to only work with the car on.

Hope this helps! I use it for my cell phone and the front for my gps.

I made a couple of mistakes. The port in the glovebox is always active. even without the key in the ingition. If you do buy the factory part you will need both the jack and the rubber fitting. Without the rubber the jeck has nothing to attach too. Easy to damage the wires below. Make sure you buy both.
