In the middle of your dash where your Emergency blinker button is, that piece comes off with 2 Philips screws at the bottom. Disconnect the Wire clip for the E-lights. And I believe you may have to take out your head unit to get access to the center speaker.

The trim piece that wraps around the entire radio look under it on both sides there will be a phillips screw, remove the 2 screw pull trim panel towards you but make sure you disconnect the hazard light harness from the hazard light button before you pull the trim piece all the way off, you will not have to remove the radio. Then the trim piece around the clock just pull it towards you and it should pop right off its held on by clips so dont worry if it seems like it doesnt want to come off it just takes alittle force. Finally there will be a white plug that is attached to the center channel speaker itself just unplug that and you are ready to put everything back together.

There is really no point in replacing that speaker, because even a really good one will blow again in about 6 months time. Just remove it and be done with it.

Yeah strangly mine just went out also. I bought mine new in 2000. It lasted 7 years so that's not so bad....

Thanks for the instructions on how to replace it. I'll be doing mine.

Common problem on all cars with the infinity system. Speaker cant handle the power. It IS worth replacing, it fills up the cabin well. Just dont replace it with OEM, go aftermarket.

Scroll down to my write up on how to replace it. You do not need to remove the head unit however you will need to modify existing location to fit a 3.5, which I have included in my post in this thread...

You will be sorry. Tweeters only put out high frequencies so the front stage will end up sounding overly birght

I have a blown center speaker as mentioned above. For replacement purposes, is it a 2"?

I know it was mentioned that you have to do some adjusting to fit in a 3.5".

You are going to waste your money by replacing that speaker. You cant tell the difference without it, and I am an audio freak.

Just snip the wires running to it, tape them off, and call it done.

I agree that it sounds better without the dash speaker. mine was blown and it took me 2 minutes to lift off the dash, and pull the speaker. I do think you can hear a difference, but i think it is better. while the center dash speaker does help "fill" the car with sound, now that it is gone, i realize that it overpowered the other speakers because it is so close to the driver. i now get a much better distinction between bass, mid and treble.

Just took care of mine. Two screws below the central unit. Unplug the hazard lights. Pop off the piece around the clock, yes it takes a lot of force. Unplug the piece connecting to the center speaker. DONE.

You can tell a difference sound-wise, but I think it makes the car feel more open. It allows me to hear more of the music in my opinion.

if anyon3 were actually worried in regards to cabin sound fill then just be smart about it. rip that lame clock out and put a nice 6 inch 3 way speaker there. i mean do you really need the clock if your radio has the time as well? NO!

however if your still sitting on a stock deck after 3-8 years then you seriously need some audio courses to figure out that stock systems, no matter how "quality" sound they claim, are crap in relation to after market head units, speakers, and amps. even the super nice lambo's and ferrari sound systems end up getting custom after market sound kits for them.

stock today yes is loads better than stock in the 80's and 90's, but the same is also true for after market stereo equipment. i have a single square 12" sub in a folded horn box with a metric audio 2000 watt amp and a digital readout 1.5 farad capacitor. i had my system mic'd at 130 DB. i paid $280 for the sub, sub enclosure, wiring kit, and farad cap. i installed the entire system myself and along side of a pioneer premier deck the sound quality of my stereo is insanely better than any infinity crap i have ever heard.
