Hi all

Just bought an old L300 with 195R14 (I think that's the right radius) off-road tyres.

Does anyone know what pressure I should be running them on. The van is rear wheel drive, but the weight (engine) is over the front and the two front tyres (which I've got at around 38psi) look like they're really under inflated.

I need some help!

Cheers

Mik

Hi hope this sheds a little light on your tyre pressures I have an l300 4wd van the tyre placard on the drivers side pillar states
195SR14 tyres with up to 3 passengers tyre pressure front & rear 180 kpa (26 psi)
195SR14 tyres with max load front & rear tyre pressure 220 kpa (32psi)
195R14C tyres with up to 3 passengers tyre pressure front & rear 220 kpa (32psi)
195R14C tyres with max load tyre pressures front & rear 250 kpa (36psi)

This may depend on the width of your rims

For 1991 L300 2 x 4 starwagon the door pillar information is as follows:-

Tyre size 185 R14c 8pr

Pressure for two passengers Front 3 bar ( 43.5 psi), Rear 3 bar

Pressure for three passengers plus load Front 3 bar, Rear 4 bar (58 psi)

However I am running on passenger 185 R14 tyres at 40 psi all round as I rarely have a heavy load on, and I am sick of replacing half worn tyres due to the propensity of the van to scrub the outsides off the front tyres. Economic decision. Cheers Mike.
