I have a 4G37 (1.8 SOHC) in my car and I was wondering if a 3.8 L 24-valve SOHC Mitsubishi 6G75 engine or even the more recent (4G63-T) from the Evo VIII, or IX or the DOHC 24v V6 twin turbo From the GTO/3000GT is possible with little or no alteration to the engine bay?

Even if it was possible... the v6 will probably break your car apart.

the v6 engines are to big for the engine bay. if it was possible you would have to extend the front of your car. a good way to compare sizes in engine bays is find someone with a v6 avenger and compare the front ends.

As for the 3.8 mivec you would need everything from under the hood plus a custom hood because the intake sits higher.

i know this is a picture of a 2g 2.0nt but its what i have to compare. and yes i know that the engine looks horrible but what can you say about a $50 engine from a junk yard. so please dont jump down my throat for "abusing" my car :P.

that 6G72 will brake your little 1990-1994 eclipse. just look at the engine bay its different. the best that might fit with the less amount of work it the 4g63. but if you to that kind of work to your car might as will try to find youself a turbo car.

I'm interested in this topic too -- but more on the cheap. I have a 94 Talon with a 1.8. The junkyard is full of 3 liter sohc v6's. Does anyone know 1) if the bellhousing pattern is the same and 2) if the sohc version will fit in the engine compartment?
I'll take as a given that it will need export braces and additional unibody stiffening, and that the ecm will need to be swapped or piggybacked or an Apexi or Greddy box will be needed.

Thanks,
Pat

way off topic here, but does that junk yard full of the 3.0 SOHC v6's have any 5 speed transmissions worth getting? again sorry for the off topicness.

I have been following this forum and any like it since I spent the whole year of 2007 and some of this year in Iraq, due to the fact I have a 94 3000GT and a 92 Talon laying around the yard. I wanted to do an interesting swap with the 6G72, but it seemed that no one even thought you would make it past getting it in the 1G DSM body.........

How different really is the engtine bay ???? Would like to see a real in car comparison? One of the motor mounts and one of the roll stops is a perfect match!!! The second roll stop only needs to be moved forward, and the drivers side engine mount can simply be made out of the factory 1G mount and 1.5" steel tubing. All of this can be done and still fit in the radiator and fans in the front and the brake master cylinder in the back!!!!

Ask me for specific pictures if you need them.

The base model Dodge Stealth uses a 6G72 SOHC that uses a F5M33 tranny, the same series tranny that the 1G and 2G GST or TSi uses. They ARE NOT the same but are the same series, the orientation of the starter and the slave cylinder are reversed.
