What is the difference between limited slip and non limited slip axles? If there is a difference, are the parts interchangable?

There's no difference between the axles unless it's a 3 bolt or a 4 bolt.

Yes, there is a difference.

On a limited slip rear, 1 of the axles is longer on the spline end (diff end). The open rear axles are the same on both sides.

On a side note, 4 bolt axles are not interchangable with 3 both axles on the diff side as well. The 4 bolt axles are larger in diameter. Meaning that you can't install 4 both axles into the 3 bolt diff and just change the axle cups.

You need the diff, both axles, and both cups to do a proper 4 bolt conversion.

I do beleive that all 4 bolt 1G rear assemblies are limited slip.

For a direct swap, look for 92-94 Eclispe/Talon AWD cars as donors. You will lose the ABS unless you swap the rings and you will lose the AWS.

On a side note, I know where a non AWS limited slip 3 bolt diff with both axles for a killer price. All ready for swaping.
