Hi i have just bought a S reg high miler new rad fitted when i got it but the heater runs stone cold
the feed and return pipes at the bulkhead are hot and just slightly cooler. i've got rad flush going tho for the last week. pulled the dash apart and the heater cable is moving the white lever right at the bootom of the heater unit which i assume is the valve. but there is absolutly no heat coming out of the unit.
Any suggestions what to do/check need to sort it soon as i wont be able to use it much longer its freezing at 5.30 in the morning lol!

could it be the thermostat? maybe try cleaning up the valve if you can get at it?

it is possable that someone used stop leak before the rad was replaced.some brands of this are famous for blocking up the heater matrix.if your getting heat to one side and more than about 10*C difference in temp from the other side I would suggest it is blocked or restricted meaning a replacement is needed

i am starting to think that way to ! as a last resort do you no of any powerfull agent to try and clean the matrix? I'm thinking maybe bicarb , caustic soda , or maybe limescale removal stuff for kettles/irons etc!

anything strong enough to remove a stop leak agent would most likely cause damage in other areas of your vehicle.one thing you might try is to clamp off the heater hoses from the heater matrix and remove them.by doing this you may be able to try running your garden hose through one heater pipe and see what the flow is like through to the other side.if it is poor try reversing the flow(go in the other pipe.this should fairly quickly identify a blocked heater matrix
