I am new to the forum and I want to start off by saying thanks to all those who have posted great information here and I look forward to being a part of this community.
(I have posted this in a few other forums so please forgive me.)

Last Month I purchased my 2007 Outlander LS 2WD and overall I am very happy with it.
I am experiencing three things that is mentioned on the forums.
- I have the air leak sound on the driver side. (Very annoying)
- I have the clunking sound in the front suspension.
- And I believe that I need the firmware update for the fuel system.
All of these things I will be contacting the dealer about and scheduling time to bring it in.

The reason for my post here is that I have some questions about the Navigation system and hopefully someone here can shed some light.

When I test drove the car I was not looking at getting the Nav system, however the salesman showed me the features and I liked the music server, and thought it would be fun to have the NAV as well. He told me that it also came with 6 Months Sirius satellite; this was something that I was shopping for and was one of my requirements as well as the Bluetooth. After we made the deal and I took delivery, the salesman called to activate the service of which we come to find out that this particular unit does not have it built in.

I was pretty mad that they did not know anything about the equipment. The manual that came with it has a whole section on using it so I know it is capable of having it. Since the salesman promised it to me they said that they would take care of it and to bring in the car a few days later and they would get it installed. What they installed was a cheap external Sirius Stratus unit that they mounted under the compartment on the dash. (Also they did pay for my subscription for 12 months.) The unit was then programmed to transmit the signal on an FM station. This whole thing is unacceptable as I have had no luck keeping the station that I tune in to on the FM from drifting off the signal from the Sat. radio. I have tried many different channels and have messed around with the setting for the last 2 weeks trying to get it fine tuned. Not to mention that I can’t change the channels thru the NAV system nor see the songs while they are playing unless I drive with the compartment open and squint to see the display on this small unit. When I complained to the salesman he skirted around what sounded like my unit is capable of having the satellite but whatever is needed was either not available for 6 months or that it was $600 to install and that is why they did it this way. They are making me feel like they did me a favor by installing this and then pay for 12 months. I called again and they said that a third party was hired to install this and that I should make an appointment to bring my car over to them and they will see if they can tune it better. This is a major inconvenience, I appreciate what they have done, I feel like they were trying but this setup is almost unusable and I need to find out some information before I go back and fight with them about this.

My questions are;

Is there a way for the unit that I have to get satellite radio by ordering something from Mitsubishi or sirius. (I see that sirius sells in-dash units but no mention of the outlander supported)

If not, what does the unit offer in terms of adding an AUX device to be wired directly to it?

If I have to live with an external Sat. radio can I get it directly wired to the unit so I do not have to use the FM transmitter?

I see when I open the unit to insert a CD that there is a small jack on the left corner; does anyone know what this is for? (is it a 1/4" adapter plug for ipod)

Also, my volume has to be turned up to at least 15 on the sliding scale before I even hear a little something out of the speakers is this normal?

Is there a service manual where I can see what the back of the unit looks like Etc. does anyone out there have any pictures that I can look at?

Thanks for your time and I look forward to seeing some Reponses.

First of all, I would be very mad too if the salesman told me I could have it and then the one I chose didn't. Now, I am not an expert on them, but I believe that you only get Sirius if you get the upgraded sun and sound package (which was worth it I think, the sound system is awesome!) and your salesman was either mis-informed or was telling you anything to sell you the car, either way I would be pissed.

The jack on the side of the navi screen when it is down is not an input jack, I am not really sure what it is, but it would be a pretty bad place for an input jack, I know in my outie, and I think any with the Navi, the AUX jack is on the back of the armrest at the bottom, but I am not sure if this is what you are asking about.

As far as the back of the MMCS (navi system) there are many pictures floating around, I know I have seem threads on just the MMCS, but I can not remember where. If all you want is a look at the back take a look at this thread, Installing a Backup Camera it is about how to install a backup camera, but it shows a picture of the back of the system.

As far as the sirius goes, I don't think it would be worth it to me to have to use a little screen when they MMCS is capable of having sirius installed. I would complain a little more to the dealer, because that is just unacceptable, and if they won't do anything, and having sirius is that important to you, maybe you have to install it yourself, or buy the parts and have someone else do it, I am sure you could find a kit out there somewhere, I found Sirius Install Kit but I think it is for a Raider, but I am sure that there is something out there somewhere.

As for any of the wiring, I am not sure about that, I don't do a lot of wiring, but maybe someone else can help you with that.

Hope everything works out, let us know what you did.

I wanted to post a quick update to my posting.

I contacted the dealer and have been given the run around from the salesman and the manager for the last 2 weeks. I did bring it in for the TSB's of which they said they did the repair for the wind noise, Howver its still there. They could not duplicate the clunk sound, even though I told them how to reproduce it. However they said they would order the parts and do the TSB. The ECM they told me did not need to be done however my car was made in November 2006 and I asked them to verify this. They supposedly checked this and the paper work says that they flashed the program. There was no mention however of them doing the TCM which I understand is imperative that it be done along with the ECM.
As far as the Sirius and Bluetooth. The blue tooth they all thought was part of the car since it had the buttons on the steering wheel. It comes to be that you need a module installed to activiate this. They were going to order this and were going to absorb the cost. Its been 3 weeks now and I have not heard from the parts dept. and I have called just about ever other day and have not been called back. I am now in touch with the General Manager and have a sit down with him and his parts department manager this evening and we are going to discuss all of these issues.
I have never had this much problems with any dealer and If I could reverse this deal I would in a heartbeat. I will post what happens.

Update:
I went to the dealership last night and we discussed the issues I am experiencing. The service manager asked if I could come back in the morning when the tech was in. I agreed and went over this morning and we took a test drive. First thing I tried to reproduce and was not able to at the time was the clunk sound that I have heard in the past. Then we went for a drive on the Highway so they can hear the wind noise. The tech said that he did apply the fix for the mirror compartment. however he could hear the wind and merely stated that it was the wind whipping around the mirrors and was not concerned about it. I however did not accept that response. When we returned I pointed out that the work order showed that they ordered the parts for the clunk sound and that they told me that they were going to do the tsb anyway. The blue tooth module was supposedly ordered and when he went to find out about that he came back and said that the parts that were ordered were sent back since the tech could not reproduce the clunk problem. I was so furious that they are now telling me that the parts came in and they returned them and my tone and language went up a notch and I questioned who made that decision and here I am waiting for a call and was someone going to call me to tell me that they decided to send the parts back AND NOT DO THE WORK! Now I feel like they are just lying to me and that I can not trust anything they are telling me. I am told that they still need to investigate the sirius radio add-on to my Nav system but that wont be until next week The Bluetooth they said would be ordered again. the TSB's - well who knows what they will do with that. With all that I am still nowhere closer to getting satisifaction or resolution. The saga continues.

hey there ecmitch I was just doing a search on google about the mmcs navi system for mitusbishi trying to find out if there is a tuner that i could get to get sirius using my navi and the touch screen. I have gone to 2 different dealerships and have talked to many of service department managers as well as parts people and none of them seem to know of anything which sucks. You would figure that if some of the cars come with the tuner in it that they would have them available to buy to upgrade your car instead of having to buy the sun and sound package just to get sirius. However I did some research and found this .... crutchfield and it is an external media controler that you can use to hook up sirius to your factory stereo. Its made by kenwood. Then you would also have to buy a tuner that costs extra money and you could see the stations and song names on the screen but you couldn't use the touch screen (which stinks) but it comes with a remote control that you can use. I know I would rather be able to use the touch screen to do all of the stuff for sirius but this may help you out. and if you find anything out about mitsubishi having a tuner for the navi system please send me a private messege

Thanks for the good info. That would have certainly been a better option if the deal would have done something like this in the first place. I was told that since my NAV was installed at the port and not at the factory that this unit was somehow different and no one can answer if there is a way to add the Sirius as an add-on or even if I can get an AUX port connected.

This morning I am going back to the dealer and yesterday they stated that either we will find a different vehicle that has the features that I was sold or they would buy back the car.
My feelings are torn since I really like the vehicle but with the few issues that I have had with the service department and salesman lying to me, my gut feeling is that I should take the second option and go somewhere else. As I have stated in the postings above, the dealer said that they were going to make the sirius work thru the NAV, add the blue tooth at no charge, they also said they ordered the parts for the clunk sound even though the mechanic said he could not duplicate this they were still going to perform the TSB. Last week the new service dept. manager told me that they sent the parts back as well as the blue tooth. When I questioned when they did this and why he said it was sent back 2 weeks ago. NO one called me to tell me this and here I was waiting for them to call me back to get these items taken care of and low and behold someone made a decision to send these items back and not inform me. HOW POOR IS THAT! That burns me up since here I was waiting for a call and if I had not called half a dozen times I would still be waiting. Since I was lied to about all this, how can I trust that they will take care of my problems for future issues and regular maintenance. The GM of the dealership seems like they are trying to make it right I will see what happens later today.

... wish me luck.

Well good news, I have all my problems solved...

I moved up to the XLS.

It was going to be impossible to get my LS to have the Sirius installed thru the NAV system. I was getting tired of having to deal with this so we discussed my options and for only thirty dollars more a month they bought back the LS and put me in an XLS. I am pretty happy with it however it did not come without any glitches... Since the vehicle was on the lot for so long over the summer here in phoenix (110-degree heat) the tires developed a Flat spot and so they are going to replace all the tires. Overall I am excited to now drive my vechicle and experience all my new features. I have to say that my experience has had its ups and downs delaing with all the different personalities from one dept to another and I am just glad that I can move on and continue life where I left off before I made my purchase!

I am going to take a nice drive this morning and tune in to channel 32 on my sirius radio!
