hi there ...

Im having a problem with high fuel consuption with my 89 L300 2.4 ... when i start the engine the RPM gauge doesnt goes over 400\200 Rpm ... and its fuel consuption is very high ... on a full tank 45 ltr i cant make more then 190 km on highway ... and driving around town its consuption its around 100\120 km ... and if the Rpm gouge gets to 1000 rpm its starts choking

Can anyone help me ... i have changed air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs ... i actualy dont know what else i can do to sort this out.

Tks in advance

If you've already replaced the usual stuff have a look at your cam timing. If its way out this could be the source of low power and heavy fuel consumption.

Take the car to TDC (top dead centre) on the crank pulley (rotate the crank pulley by hand using a 19mm or 21mm socket). Match the mark up to zero degrees mark on the crank cover case (you'll need a torch for this). Then pull off the top CAM cover and see where the cam is positioned. The top mark on the cam should line up with another mark on the head. If this is out even a tooth the car will run like a dog. It will be underpowered too.

My advice if you're not sure take it to a mechanic as CAM timing is very critical and has to be 100% accurate too.

If you have got power and its just rich as when you back off I'd replace the AIR FLOW METER 1st mate. Its in the air cleaner box. This can cause the issues you're talking about.

Check fuel pressure regulator. Remove vacuum hose while running and see if any fuel comes out. If so replace regulator
