I had it smog checked to see what the problem was.

All emissions are fine except for the check engine light is on indicating a ODB code 41. And the ignition timing is a little off.

The repairs are too expensive to maybe have the light come off.

I tried disconnecting the battery for over an hour and drove maybe 1.5 miles before it came back on.

How long does it have to be off for to get passed the smog checker?

I would like to just physically disconnect the light or remove the lightbulb.

If I do that does the smog checker still check for computer codes?

I don' care about taking out the light, I just need the light off so I can register it, drive it around for a few months an get rid of it.

the engine check light has other sensors it warns about

some ideas

have you checked the air flow meter temp sensors thermostat o2 sensor on the exhaust

or the catalytic converter may be clogged

Oh code 41 is injector fault.

but when you listen to the injectors they are all clicking.

02 sensor and catalytic converter are fine.

if the injectors are working with a code 41 that might be a bad computer. I don't want to pay for that and have the same problem.

that may just be the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail

you need a special tester to make sure the injectors are working

the other way is to unplug each injector one at a time

the one unpluged not making any difference is the faulty one

clean injectors

you know, there is a problem with the fuel pressure regulator.

on friday I would try to start my car, and then it idle roughly for about 2 minutes, then shut off.

I tried to start it today and it started just fine and didn't shut off. But what I noticed was that fuel was dripping/leaking from the regulator. If I continued to let it drip i could see that it could potentially drip behind the injector and possibly pool around the spark plugs. on friday there was some smoke coming from the rear of the engine so i think it was that leaky gasoline.

i could see how bad fuel pressure could cause this type of starting/running problem.
