I own a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage DE Coupe with a 4G15 / 1.5 LTR Fuel Injected Motor. I know absolutley NOTHING about moters. That is why I am here, in need of suggestions. I Have a guy that knows how to install any and everything when it comes to motors. I really need to know everything that can be done to this motor, other then a turbo.

If anyone could literally give me a list of everything that can be done to increase horsepower & Low end torque, I would GREATLY apretiate it. Thanks

i'd start with

airflow-
cold air intake
headers
exhaust

ignition-
spark plug wires
spark plugs
multi-spark ignition

and to save you from asking. don't get
electric supercharger
tornado fuel saver
any preformance chips off ebay

and for good measure you can go with some NOS if you want to.

you have aftermarket headers on your 1.5L????

i have the same motor its just the 2001 model, no different at all, and i have gone EVERYWHERE to find headers, the only suggestion i got was to get custom headers but they run for 500+ dollars

did u just buy headers or were they custom?

oh and another idea is weight reduction, ecu, fuelrail, clutch

stay away from NOS, it'll blow the motor, believe me i saw it happen to the 1.8L mirage so it could definitely happen to the 1.5

but seriously lol please tell me where you got those headers from. thanks

yeh buddy,
do your
injectors
throttle body
fuel pressure regulator
pulley kit
do a DOHC head conversion if you got a SOHC engine

then i reckon work on your gearbox
clutch
shortshifter
flywheel

post up some pics of you car too.

Rage,
I've followed this thread with interest but hesitated to respond. Your basic problem is the displacement of the engine. It's small. Other than a turbo, other mods will yield little. Even a turbo, once costs are factored in, would be disappointing. To make power there is no substitute for displacement. That's not an opinion, it's an axiom. If you want to go fast you bought the wrong car. If you want to stay out of gas stations and avoid the poor house you bought the right car. Gas prices are only going to go up.
I'm not trying to piss in your Cheerios. Many years ago I was where you are now. At 17 I had a '59 Volkswagen with no power. I sold it and bought a '61 Ford with a 292 V8 and a 3 speed stick. That engine was replaced with a 390 with 406 heads and tri-power (3 two barrel carbs). It got 6 mpg when gas was $.30 a gallon. It went like a rocket, between gas stations.
If you absolutely have to go fast, sell the Mirage and buy something with a V6 at least. In the long run it will be cheaper and more cost effective.
Don't kill the messenger.
Good luck
