this doesnt have to do with cars, but
me and my friends went to the movies friday, and we were behind the building, and we had to piss well, we start pissin, and what do you know. Im half way done, and the lights went off. The cop comes up to us and starts yellin at us. asks us if we have any drugs or alcohol on us. ask us if we have nay in the car. asks to see our license, and tells us to sit in the cop car. Then he tells us that he could take us to jail and blah blah blah.
then he lets us off with some kind of warning, or something
but ya. >.>

Never had a bad ticket, just usual 10km/hr(yes metric :)) over sort of thing, but got let off for being naughty!
I had a fight with a girl(wasn't seeing her but ALMOST, who would've thought 'exotic' dancers are slu7s?) in a club at around 5am and stormed downstairs to go home. She followed me down hurling abuse so I just got in the car. While she was yelling through the window, I reversed out without looking and nearly hit a slowly patrolling cop car(less than 4 feet for you non metric folk). About 30 bystanders then got to see me smoke the car up in front of the amused cops(whose red and blue lights lit the smoke up quite nicely apparently but i didn't notice). I then proceeded to run the red light in front of me(club is on an intersection) and speed off at 90km/hr in a 60 zone. I then notice the cops chasing me and stop only to be breathalized over the limit(just over). After all that, I got a Au$100 ticket for the burnout(was quite nice actually, auto shifted through second and kept smoking through the entire intersection ha ha!) And the reason I got let off? I told the cop that I had just done that 'stupid thing you do when you're young and regret it forever' thing and would learn my lesson the hard way! They also said they'd witnessed the irate girl/biatch and understood why I wanted to get the hell out of there! It has been about 8 years since this happened and it was actually the last ticket I ever got. :)

Only one.
Bad day at work back in 2001 or so. 83 in a 50 after 7pm. Caught by tripod laser. Didn't even realize I was going that fast at the time, but I was previously doing 120 in a 60. Obviously there was no traffic anywhere in that 2km stretch of road, but it was still insanely stupid.
Went to magistrate to discuss it. I told her that at the time, I didn't think I was going that fast (it's like when you're travelling on the highway for a long time, then reach the city and have to slow down -- feels like you're crawling). Obviously I wasn't when she told me it was by laser. I said "oh. Well, I guess that solves that."
Her: "Is there anything wrong with the vehicle?" (I expect she was referring to the speedometer, asking if it was maybe broken or miscalibrated) Me: "I know there's something wrong with the brakes." (being 100% truthful, but not really thinking who I was talking to)
I was being honest, as there was a slight issue with the brakes. They kept wearing out incredibly quick and fading fast even during easy braking. It was the damndest thing, but definitely the wrong answer in that situation. It wasn't until I was walking out the door that I realize just what that sounded like. I think that ticket was $173 or something at the time.. of course now it would be closer to $300 or more as they've been steadily jacking up the rates. More power to them. Hell, I'd do it.
Haven't had a ticket since. First (and hopefully only) vehicle collision two months ago and I've been driving for 10 years. I was not at fault.

QUOTE $1 per mile an hour over the limit I think a more reasonable equation would be $5 per mph over, and the total multiplied by 2 for every 10 miles over. For example: 5 over = $25 10 over = $100 15 over = $150 20 over = $400 25 over = $500 30 over = $1200 Because seriously, why do you need to be driving 20mph over the limit? Even if you do, try to be reasonable about it. There's this long road called "Westheimer Parkway" near where I live. Google Maps search it. This road's speed limit is 45, but I've only seen a cop on it once in the 15-20 times I've been on it, so occasionally I wind down from a long day at work by going there at 4:00am and letting loose to about 95mph. (sadly that's all the faster my car goes). You know, if I got caught doing that, I'd lose my license, and go to jail for a felony. But you know why I do it? Because I'm careful and I be sure I won't get caught first. PS - As far as the getting followed home being a reason to drive fast, I did that once because I was being followed by a Subaru WRX. I think he wanted to race, or he was just being an asshole. He was tailgating me!

Today I went out and bought some goodies for my car. Bought the DupliColor scratch removal pen/brush thing. Then I bought an OEM style K&N filter. Works great. More to that in a minute. Also bought a Thrush turbo muffler, to enhance the sound of the car.
On the way home. I'm SO pissed because every goddamn light is turning red. I go tearing down highway 6 at high speed. (undisclosed) I get on highway 10 and realize I'm going the wrong direction, so I go to get in the u-turn lane, when I notice a police officer pulling out from behind a barricade in front of me, then pulling behind me and turning on his lights. Suddenly my whole body goes numb, I literally feel scared enough that if I could, I'd piss myself. I slowly and cautiously inch toward the u-turn area where I park. He stops, gets out, does the classic slow walk to the car. He had the nerve to ask whose car it was... and for my insurance. He gave me a ticket for 45 in a 35. I was really going 62 in the 35, and I know because he told me specifically. IN A WORK ZONE. He marked it as 45 in a 35 in a 'posted' zone. I have a $190 fine to pay, and I have to go to court on Nov. 18. I could pay $110 for a Safe Driving Course too if I wish, so that no points will be put on my license. I'm going to do it. I'm not going to contest anything. He told me he wouldn't fine me for the NY plates but I have to get TX plates ASAP.
All this ironically 1 day after I tell my friend "1 ticket is all it will take to make me stop driving fast"
