i have a 2000 eclipse gt and i am having this weird problem with it. sometimes when the car is running at low speeds (around 25-35mph) it turns off by itself for like a second and then it turns back on and the rpms go all da way down in the second that its off, but i dont know if it turns off or what it does and one time when i stopped on a stop sign it turned off by itself but then i turned it back on and it worked perfectly fine but the check engine light has never comes on. anyone have any thoughts on what it can be or has anyone ever expirienced this before please tell me what to do.

i had that happen to me when i installed my CAI. try resetting your ECU. disconnect the battery for about 20 mins. this will reset your radio also so get the unlock code before you do this

i told you how to fix it. disconnect the battery cables from the battery. leave them off for about 20 mins. this will cause the ECU to reset itself. then reconnect the cables, start the car, and let it idle for about 5 mins.

OHH i forgot to say that when its running for a while and i stop for a couple of minutes like in a drive-thru or theres traffic on the freeway and da car is stopped the temperature goes up(like inbetween the middle and Hot) but i think that there is a bad ground wire in da care because the horn doesnt work so maybe thats why the temperature needle goes up because theres a bad ground wire in da car!! it also shakes a little when i stop in a stoplight so i dont know if all this is being caused by the same thing or if it is diffrent things!!! so if you guys could help me out id appreciate it!!

first...your car could be overheating. usually when the temperture gauge goes up, that means the engine is getting too hot. and that is a bad thing.

i got a question....when you hit 4000 rpms, does the engine stop revving and just stays around 4000rpms until you change gears? like you cant get above 4000rpms?

yes i do....go pop you hood. you will see the stock intake inlet. there should be two rivets that secure it to the radiator support. most likely, you are missing these to rivets. what is happening is that when you hit 4000rpms, the engine is leaning back and the intake inlet is now sucking against the bottom of the hood. this is stopping any air from getting into the engine and thats why you cant get any higher. go check that out. if you need a picture to show you where it is....just let me know and ill go take a picture right fast

i circled the two places where rivets are suppose to be. you will have a plastic air intake inlet that the rivets hold to the frame at the front where the hood meets the front.

2003 Red Eclipse Gt remember i mentioned da temperature gauge going up on my eclipse! well! when im driving around in da car sometimes da needle goes up, it almost goes between hot and normal but it leans a little bit less towards normal. when im driving around the needle will go up when i stop at a red light. then when da car starts running it goes back to normal but even if its running it sometimes goes up! any thoughts on what it could be dude cuz da car feels normal!
