Ihave a new Triton GLX-R Manual Diesel. It shudders off the line in 1st between 1800 and 2000 rpm. Mitsubishi have told me it's normal and a characteristic of the vehicle and as such will not fix it !!!!! - The car I test drove did NOT shudder - I would not have bought one if it had or if I was aware of it.. Has anyone else experienced this and anyone know of the cause. I do know it's driveline and not clutch. Mitsubishi have release a bulletin about it to dealers but I was not allowed access to it. Anyone seen this ??? Help -- This thing cost me over $52,000 and I am really disappointed......
Cheers

I don't think it's the clutch. I did once have a car that had 'hot' spots on the clutch and it did shudder - however the difference is once the clutch was fully disengaged there was no shudder - with My Triton the shudder is always there!.....

Here are some other thoughts.

The suspension in the rear is 'pathetic' tiny shocks that would look more at home on a mountain bike and leaf springs that are very long and only 5 leafs. The geometry of the shock being 45 degrees to the axle would not help. So under initial torque of 1st gear through the high torque range between 1200 - 2000 rpm it is causing the rear end to twist - flex to the body. thus causing a shudder.

This would also explain why Mitsubishi will not do anything as replacement parts will not cure it. What I need to try is having the entire suspension changed to an aftermarket setup - eg ARB. I bet this would fix the problem.... but where does that leave me as far as Mitsubishi is concerned and my ability to claim compensation ???????? I just want a fixed truck !!!

Hi
I own a new 2007 model triton diesel. My one used to shudder on first just after roll out from rest commenced.I noticed that all the others[3] in the local dealers stock were all having the same problem.I dismissed the seemingly minor issue and lived with it.Everything else was just fine![except the noisey dash]
8000 kilometers down the road and its gone! Whatever it is that caused it, apparently cures itself.
Patience my friend!

Hi guys, I am also trying to locate the source of this shudder on my v6 MK triton, I use my truck for a bit of off roading and during slow uphill climbs this shudder is amplified greatly, to the point that in the last three months I have had to replace the left engine mount once and the transfer case support mount twice.

You can test your car for this shudder by driving in 1st gear with the clutch fully released and loading up your engine with the brakes at the same time, my shudder is at about 1500rpm in first gear high.

Since this is more of a speed dependent phenomenon, not a clutch issue and cannot be re-created in other high-ratio gears, I would say it has to be a problem between the g/box and the wheels, but I can't find any broken or worn mounts to blame it on, maybe their is a lack of support for the drivetrain? or maybe it is a problem with the geometry of the design? but I have owned the same vehicle in the past performing the same duties and there was no such shudder.

Any help would be appreciated as it is starting to get under my skin.
