Can anyone give me aome info about alternator wiring.

I have got a Mitsubishi alternator to put on my Landrover and I was hoping someone could tell me the connector setup.
It has an output to the battery and a 4 pin connector can you tell me what these pins are for? ie: sense, exciter or what.
Does this alternator have an internal regulator r does it need an external regulator?

hi java jive your alternator is externally regulated and E is earth F is field N is neutral andA is a battery sense .All these wires go to an external reg and you will need another 2 wires to go to the reg and they are an ignition and the earth side of your alternator warning light .ok any more questions fire away kevman
