gday all. recently bought my dream van, an '86 L300 express 4x4 and as $$$ permit i will slowly convert it into the beast i know it is! when i got it the noise from the gearbox was excessive! anyhow on closer inspection i found all the gearbox oil had leaked out via a loose speedo cable connection, ive replaced the oil and the noise is better but still definately there(except 4th gear, it is quiet as). it is also sticky now and then, sometimes reverse is a battle. until i can afford a gearbox rebuild is there an additive(oil stabilizer?)i can use to help protect and quieten it? also i have a flatspot on acceleration as soon as i hit the throttle, dirty carby maybe?
all help greatly appreciated, thanks!
BTW. the 4G63 motor in my van, is it basically the same as the early HI-PO lancer evo 4G63 minus turbo and other go fast bits? can it be upgraded and tuned for RAW POWER? if so what would i be looking at? again, thanks in advance for any help, any input is greatly appreciated. :) :)

Basically you're sitting on an evo bottom end. We have turbo charged about 7 of these vans now. Anything from 200-300% power increase is available relaibily.

Check out what I've done to my van if you're a little unstable :D

Packages vary from van to van. There are lots of options eg what engine size you have, carby or injection, auto/manual gearbox , brake packages, clutch options, turbo options, cooler options, cams, mufflers etc etc. Its a full custom install and tune on each van.

To give you a rough idea expect to pay 5-6k drive in drive out. Thats with all new components, turbo, stainless steel pipework, stainless steel exhaust, computer, injectors, tune etc etc etc. The modification list is extensive. Also note generally economy is better and power is up 200-300%. My van when from 70bhp at the wheels to 225bhp. Makes it a serious contender on the steet. Takes 4-5 days install and smiles are plenty at the end of the conversion
