I have 2000 mitsubishi diamante with 122,XXX I jus recently got this car and experincing problems it started on sat it was bruning oil than on sunday the engine light came on and white smoke coming out? i live Houston,Texas a reccomendation of mechanic would be apprectiated or plan of action im lost any help will do

Sorry to hear that - it doesn't sound good. "white smoke" is probably steam due to coolant entering the cylinders - could be a head gasket problem. If that's the case, then the engine light could be due to misfire or fouled oxygen sensor caused by the coolant leaking in.
