I have a 99 Galant 2.4L. I was wondering if a leaking spark plug tube seal could cause a cylinder misfire when the engine is cold. I am finding oil around top of plug wire and base of spark plug. Service engine soon light is on and the only code is P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. Wires and plug are both new. Only misses when cold, runs fine when warmed up. Any help would be great.

yes it definately can -

before you mess with the seals, try using conductive grease on the connections.

that stopped it for me. 80k miles ago. now my baby has over 300k miles on it. its served me well. minimal repairs, but things are really starting to go downhill for this car. i bought a new backup car last month but im still using this one to do my 120 round trip daily commute until it dies for good, which im thinking i might get another 100k miles out of it at this point for a total of 400,000 miles on an 02 galant 2.4

in all 400k miles its only needed brakes, oil, an alternator, timing belt changes, some light bulbs and spark plugs.

If you're feeling daring you can buy a valve cover gasket that comes with some new tube seals. They're not terribly difficult to switch out. I guess the worst that it could be is that you have a crack in your tube but it's not very likely.
