I have been looking online and seem to keep running into places that have 3000gt downpipes. they all say VR-4 only. can a VR-4 downpipe fit on my SL? and if not where can i get a good downpipe cheap for an SL? thnx

No they are different due to the O2 housings that come off the turbos, you should be able to find a decent downpipe on ebay or at 3sxperformance.com.

could i not just plug up the O2 housings on a VR-4 downpipe and drill newones for an SL?

No when I say O2 housings, I am not refering to just where the O2 sensor goes, but the whole pipe. On a turbo car it bolts on the side of the turbo and goes down to the downpipe. On a non turbo it bolts directly to the header, then goes to the downpipe. Flanges for the downpipe also may be bigger on the turbo version also depending on which brand youu get. It just won't even come close to bolting up.

Changing the down pipe will not do anything try the 3sx long headers.

hey what about a turbo cat back will that fit on a non turbo.
