Last fall my a.c in my 02' lancer started leaking water at the time it was just a small amount so I didn't think much of it but it gradually got worse and one day my a.c stopped working all together. I had a friend look at it and he cleaned out a filter that he said was clogged. It worked fine until about 4 months ago it started again. We clened the filter again and replaced the fan because the water gave it a short. But at the rate the water is leaking now the new fan is going to break soon. Yesterday my a.c stopped working all together sometimes it willl randomly come on but it wont stay on very long! I dont know what to do!! It is not hot water so it cant be the heater core right?? Please help me!

Usually with the heater core you tend to get a little anti-freeze in it as well, so I think you are safe. You may need to go through and make sure that your air hoses aren't leaking the stuff out.

ok this problem is very common with these lancers specially if you park under trees or where debree can get thru to your top vent. what happens is this debree ends up in the orifice tube where the water usually escapes the a/c box which it comes out thru your firewall inside the engine bay and it leaks out through there. with the orifice clogged up the water accumulates inside the box thus flooding the inside of your car and causing all of this other problems. what you need to clean is this water exit. and change the filter and if its really wet the padding on the passanger side cuz it can lead to molding. hope this helps you out :57:
