OK, I live in ontario where it can get COLD!! When I bought my car in the fall it started up great, no problems. Now when its REALLY cold (-36 some mornings) the car starts fine but then as soon as it starts it makes a HORRIBLE sound. Its almost like you are grinding the gears (aarrggg) but you arent touching them. ANY help on this would be great. BTW in case it matters its a 2004 GT-P, not sure if its common or not. Let me know.

the manu reccomended oil isn't a great viscosity i think I spelled that right, but any way you need a thicker oil.

Sounds familiar. I drive a 2001 Spyder GT, and live in Ohio. This was my first winter with the car and it makes a very similar sound, usually when the temperature is below about 15 or so.

Last oil change was 5W-30 Valvoline Synthetic. Synthetic hasn't completely eliminated the sound, but it seems to have quieted it down a bit, and doesn't last as long after startup. Perhaps a different viscosity (or Mobil 1) would improve this even more, but us cold weather folks may not be able to completely get rid of this sound...
