I have an 03 spyder and the dash board has cracked in the very front were it meats the windshield in several places. Ive been trying to take the dash out so i can fix it but i cant seem to got the whole thing off. it seems to be stuck on the passanger side but i dont see anymore screws any help would be great

EDIT WE GOT IT ALMOST OFF

ok guys so we mannaged to get the dash off... well sort of once you get all of the pannels off and everything including the glove box if you look up where the glove box is supposed to be you can see 4 bolts 2 on one side of a bar and 2 on the other these bolts are what hold the airbag in place and once you take those out then u simply pull out and up on the dash and it will come out but here is where we ran into another problem. The dash will not fit over the stearing wheel so inorder to get the dash completely off you must take off the stearing wheel this requires taking the air bag off the stearing wheel which my dad and i did not want to mess with so we are at another dead end for now.

there might be screws behind or around the glove box that are hard to see? i realy dont know, just tryin to help you brainstorm here.

also, i have a crack comming from the windshield defrost vent on the dash too. once you have the dash out, what were you planning to do to fix it? im not exactly sure what to do. if i could even stop it from advancing, ide be happy.

hey have you ever thought of wrappingit in fabric. Or you could bondo it and paint it.

If you just want to cover it up, just super glue the crack then put a dash cover over it.

If i could find a "dash cover" that isnt like my grandmothers throw rug, then i would. I just couldnt find anything that looked good. I like the idea of actually wrapping it tho. That could work, although to do it right, the dash would probably have to be taken out. If i ever get extremly ambicious, ill give it a shot haha.

The dash in my 02 eclipse is cracked in a couple of places as well. Shop that replaced my heater core didn't want to continue until I gave them the okay since they worried about breaking it more. Can this become a serious problem or just cosmetic?

My dashboard is cracked in a few places, also. It looks bad but is not really worth the time and money, as well as the risk of an improper fit.

As long as it still runs fine you got nothing to worry about. You're not going to find a 2001 that's in perfect cosmetic condition inside or out so the best advice is if it really bothers you that much then fix it or get rid of the car. Or if you think you can live with it then just ignore it and keep the car until it stops working, which if you treat it good should be a very long time from now.

Mine is cracked too, many places, its from the sun, i actualy saw it crack after i left it outside for a while, after that, i only park it in shade and it hasnt cracked since then, its been about 10 months. Anyway, i glued it with different types of glue, only one worked for about a month. What kind of plastic is our thing made off? No glue works!!!

do you remember those plastic sheets that you used to play around with in shop class? the plexi-glass plates.

it is possible to buy colored plexi-glass sheets. lay it on top of your dash and heat it up to form it to the contour of your dash. cut a little hole out for the dash speaker, the defrost vents, and cut it so it only lays on top of your dash. then pull it up and add some silicone type adhesive to make it a permanent resident there.

any color you can find and choose will look a lot better than fabric and won't stain bro.
