Hi, can anyone help? I have a Mitsubishi GTO Mk2. I have just taken it for its MOT test and it has failed on the exhaust emissions. The exhaust is clean but the test station says thier is to much oxygen in the exhaust gases and this is why it is failing. I took it to a so called 'performance car specialist' who said it was the air mass meter. I checked the price and they are £600+ new so i bought second hand put the meter on and reset ecu's by disconnecting battery for a few hours. I still had the same problem. I took it to Mitsubishi main dealer nad they cant do anything unless the engine management light is on so they can plug in and see whats wrong. Has anyone got any ideas what might be wrong please? Regards, Ben

id suggest calling a mobile auto diagnostic to double check they only charge about £30. and they dont need the engine management to be on they will plug it through your e.c.u and will pull up any fault codes and tell you the problem and how to rectfy. Also did you give the car a full service before the mot? also check the exhaust manifold for any oil leaks (rare but could be the problem) hope this helps
