i've had my lancer gts for about 4 days and i already put 1400 miles on it. was doing 40-50, 65-80, and the last couple hundred miles i did 70-90sh but ive never gone over 90 yet.

at what point/mileage am i done breaking in? im excited to see how fast it can go but i dont wanna do balls to the wall yet.

I would say that your car is broken in, but you can wait longer to be safe. I didnt start to push mine till about 1500. There isnt really a set amount of miles and this is a highly debated topic.

you can always read your owners manual...

i read my friend's owners manual for his hundai elantra... it said the following for breaking in the engine...

do not drive over 45 mpg
do not stop hard
do not take off fast
do not idle for longer than 5 minutes
do not tow anything
all this for the first 500 miles or so... which i thought it was stupid... i have not read the manual on the lancer to see what mitsu recommends... but more than likely it will be the same...

i talked to the guy at my dealer and he said dont rev the engine or run it hard until you have atleast 1000 miles on it to be safe you could go to 1500 but anything after that you should be fine...so if i were you i wouldnt worry about it yours should be pretty well broken in by now...
