My 92 2.6 Magna check engine light comes on after a couple of minutes and the transmission hangs on and only changes into third at 70 k and top at 90k It also cuts out on sharp bends. Any answers would be appreciated

Hey mate,
Have you tried removing the negative lead from the battery for a minute or two, then reconecting it and driving the vehicle nicely for about 10-15 ks. While doing that, you have to go through the gears slowly, and if you have a trip-tronic gearbox, make sure you use those gears, and change around the 2500 rpm mark, if not drive your auto like a manual. I have had gearbox troubles with my VR4, and after changing the lock-up solenoid, i did the above information, and now it works like a charm.
Hope this healps?!

Thanks. I will try another TPS tomorrow. The light used to go out when I cleaned all the terminals- (they were green) and wriggled the terminal to the TPS but this does not work anymore. I have disconnected the battery over night for no result.

Changed the TPS for no result. The car runs fine even though the check engine light is on but it only changes gear by road speed not load or throttle position. This only happened after I cleaned all the terminals (Yes they are very clean) so I assume its electrical

I think I have found the fault. Loom is faulty near the connector plug on the TCP. If I wriggle the wires a bit the light goes out and the trans changes correctly. I will solder a new plug and wiring in today.
