Thats correct.

The rear 3 plugs are under the intake manifold towards the firewall of the engine bay. Ive never changed them myself, but a friend of mine did, and he said he took the intake manifold completly off to get to the plugs. It might be possible to replace the plugs without removing the manifold completly, im realy not sure.

i have an 03 GTS also and will be changing the plugs in spring, i have taken a flashlight and looked it over and from what i see and i may be wrong but i think there is probably no way to change those plugs without taking the intake off, but if u can do it with out taking the intake off it will most likely be a pain in the rear so would be much faster taking it off i think, and i guess this will also involve replacing gaskets to im assuming?

or you could just put the car on jack stands and see if it would be better to come in from the bottom. im sure thats how shops do it but they also have lifts

just a thought

a dealer would take the manifold off. its more work so they can charge you more. most of them (if not all) use a set time frame that they charge you for so no matter if it only takes half the time they make the money off it. i have a friend who works at a dealer and he says if the book says three hours and if he would get it done in 1.5 he still gets paid for the 3 hours plus he can start on the the next job and use your time to do that and get paid for it also.
