Hi :)
I have just reciently purchased 1993 RVR and am experiecing a loud wining coming from the cam belt when starting from cold which almost disapears afterabout 5 minutes running, The cam belt has been replaced about 10 thou ago .It has done just over 95000 k . I puchased the vehicle obout 4 weeks ago.
Also the valve lifters are sometimes noisy when worming up, and thay say that an addative to the oil may help .
Any help on these would be appreciated :D

Mine whined before I bought it. Had the plastic timing cover replaced as it had contracted with heat and was rubbing on the pulleys. It had worn through the plastic.
I see the replacement one was a lot stronger so I suspect they had a few problems.
Changing the oil helped my intermittant valve noise.

I had a similar problem just fixed it. Check the pulley that is coming out of the cam shaft the one that is connected to the A/C and powersteering. There is a rubber if its worn out it makes lots of noise. The problem can only be solved by replacing the pulley with a new one.
