Hi all, I have a problem with my Sigma ´93 12 valve.

Guess I forgot to close a door or something which dried out the battery, so I plugged it out to recharge it overnight to plug it back in the day after. But now everything is acting crazy, windows goes up and down when I work the throttle so does the central locking system as well as the sunroof is opening by itself and smoke came out from behind the stereo.

Any help will be highly appreciated !

Cheers
Mj

smoke means melted wires

best get an auto electrician to check for melted wires shorting
did you have the terminals to the battery on the right way after refitting

negitave to earth ?

best suggestion is a new battery

if the voltage is low you will have problems

as for the regulator some are external and some internal depending on the alternator fitted to your car

a volt meter across the battery terminals will show you if the battery is being charged and if it is holding charge

Hi Dirty H. thank you for reply, yes everything connected right. I will check voltage when I get my hands on a volt meter, do you know where I can find the V.regulator if there is one ? It's a 12 valve wagon made in Australia.

Thx in advance
Mj

the V.regulator is on the alternator itself

follow the two wires to the back of the alternator on a connector pin
plugs into the voltage regulator

not the single wire secured by a nut to the alternator

regulators are a common problem in magnas two types fitted to the V6

on the V6 alternators are hard to get to
when at the back of the motor near the firewall

the battery has to be in top condition and not more than 3 years old to stay ahead of the electrical problems
