I have tried two used in-dash CD players (Mitsubishi part number A999PC1X01) in my 1999 Diamante and they do not work. All I get is an E-02 error code. This the the single-disk player that mounts under the factory radio and plugs into it with a cable. Before I try another, I would like to verify that this cd player is the correct part number. Does anybody know for sure?

Is it likely that these units quit at 6 years and if I try to find another one, it too will be bad? I get refunds for the bad units, but each time I have to open up my dash to try the unit and I would like to be done.

I know I could replace the original factory radio with one that plays CD's, but I would rather just add the factory CD player under the existing radio.

I know getting the part numbers would involve removing the radio, but there is a way you can help me. If you own a 1999 Diamante with the radio and separate in-dash CD player you will see a small model number printed on the front of each unit. For instance, my radio has P602 on the cassette door. It would be helpful if 1999 Diamante owners would tell me the model number of both the radio and the CD player.
