I filled the radiator up to full and topped off the reserve... still overheating but not as much.. seems to be sporadic. possible thermostat? and is it located behind the radiator hose at the block?

when you filled it with coolant did you let the air escape the radiator? its possible it has an air pocket that is causing it to overheat. i had a case where that happened (wasnt on a mitsubishi) the tech just added coolant without letting the air escape. it warped the head and we had to buy the customer a new engine.
