I was wondering if anyone has been able to get a remote car starter for the 2008 Lancers. I've tried a few places, but since they havent found a method to bypass the security, they want to basically destroy my spare key by using the chip out of it.

And I dont want to spend a couple hundred bucks getting a new key from the dealer. Wondering if anyone out there has had any luck with this...

Yup. I had that installed at the Northside Mistu dealer. I got a deal on if for fairly cheap but I think it normally costs something around $500 for the one way system.

What they did is they got me to bring in both of my keys and reprogrammed the chip. My remote starter is on a separate remote with just one button and works with the Fast Key entry system no problem.

I dont have the fast key option but I assume it would be ok with a regular key too. I was looking for a 2-way system though. I'll check again at Southside this week to see if they have any options. I will probably get robbed on the installation fee though. :(

The 2 way will probably cost you closer to 1000 bucks. Maybe try to get them to cut you a deal. Go to the sales manager and try to convince him to give you a cut. I got mine installed for 200 bucks. My mom got the exact same system on her Outlander for 500.

- Time start set on remote by user
- Optional external Siren (six-tone)
- Optional super bright blue LED
- Driver's priority unlock

$700 is a lot, even more so since it's CDN. My sister got her remote starter installed on her 2000 Toyota Solara for under $400.

Anybody figure out if it's possible to get a remote starter if you have the FAST key option?

My installer said it is possible but it's a pain to do.

And I'm guessing they'd need one of my spares too...

The starter itself was only about $375 (Don't forget its 2-way, top of the industry range, inside temperature sensor, battery voltage sensor etc.) The rest was labour, warranty etc.

Of course unless there's a bypass already out for our car. When I went there wasn't one available yet from my installer.

I had to use up a spare key since there wasnt a bypass out at the time (around December) but I believe there's one out now so you should be ok.
